Energy Performance of Room Air-Conditioners and Ceiling Fans in Mixed-Mode Buildings

Studies show that people can tolerate elevated temperatures in the presence of appreciable air movement (e.g., from using ceiling fans). This minimises use air-conditioners and extends their tset (tset), resulting energy savings space cooling. However, there is little empirical evidence on fans with rac. To address this gap, we analysed performance rac both fixed-speed compressors inverter technology at different set-point fan speed settings 15 residential mmb India. Thermal comfort conditions (as predicted by imacr) minimum consumption were maintained a (tset) 28 30 ∘C fss one. Compared 24 ∘C, resulted 44 67%, respectively. With rac, configuration was satisfactory for an optimal maintaining thermal comfort. In addition, used 34–68% less than compressors. rising particularly tropical regions, study’s outcomes offer significant potential reducing space-cooling resultant ghg emissions.
